Handmade Birthday Cards

I recently started making my own cards. My Aunt made me cards for my Wedding Shower and for my Wedding. When it came to my Birthday, she took time to show my mom how to make me a Birthday card. I absolutely loved them. I decided that I wanted to try this as well. I found myself at a local A.C.Moore and Micheals Craft store browsing the store for all sorts of stickers, embellishments, the blank cards, scissors, scrapbook paper, and whole punchers. Here's an example of the materials I used and what my card looked like when completed.

Sentimental Wine Bottle Home Decor Piece

Looking for a creative way to use a sentimental Wine Bottle? Maybe it was a wine bottle from a special date, anniversary, wedding, or from a honeymoon. I took a wine bottle from my honeymoon and transformed it into an easy simple home decor piece. The best part was that I managed to create this for $4 only! I went to the Dollar Store, where I bought the sea shells, flowers, and the twigs. The sand I bought at Target on clearance for 99 cents. Lastly, I used the empty wine bottle from my honeymoon. An even better idea would be to plan ahead and gather sea shells and sand for free at a beach! But even so you can pick up these items at the Dollar Store. Here is a picture of the one I created.

I did some fall shopping today at Express. I bought one pair of black Stella Leggings (regular fit low rise) SKU 9165994. Then I bought 3 tops. Which gave me 3 different styles. The first one was a Crochet Fitted top SKU 6461899. The second look was more casual look, yet still had some flare with a grey tee shirt that had an embellished pocket on the tee. The Embellished Knit Tee SKU 6359783, which was 40% off. The last look was matching up the black leggings with a Dolman Sleeve Tunic Top SKU 9669721. This top was also 40%! Flat Belly Diet and some Good Clean Eating

A friend told me about this amazing cookbook. It's called Flat Belly Diet. The cookbook contains 200 MUFA recipes. When my friend showed me this cookbook, at first I felt silly because I had no clue what a MUFA even was. Just in case you don't either, it's known as monounsaturated fatty acids. They are plant based fats, which include olives, olive oil, avocados, chocolate, nuts, seeds, and legumes. The reason MUFAs are so important is because they enhance heart health, help fight chronic disease, and also help with weight loss. The cookbook promotes clean eating. Last night I tried cooking my first recipe from the cookbook called Chicken Piccata. The recipe was simple and used everyday ingredients you already have in your household. The following are pictures of the cookbook I used and also the Chicken Piccata. With the Chicken Piccata, I also made Zucchini Chips made by mixing flour and bread crumbs (the bread crumbs I used did not contain preservatives). I also had some locally grown corn that I bought at a Farmers Market. My husband completely loved the dinner as well. 

 

Trying to Furnish a New Home on a Budget

We've lived in our townhouse for 2 years now. The first year we went crazy trying to buy furniture for our house. When we moved in we both just had Queen Bedroom Sets, we pretty much had to furnish everything. We bought furniture piece by piece. When we first moved in we camped out on blankets in our living room while we ate dinner. We didn't want to get in over our heads with debt from furniture. So we bought the sofa first, weeks later a kitchen table, and weeks later a tv. Five months after we moved in, we were engaged. Furnishing the house was put on the back burner. I had to save all my money for the wedding. Today we still do not have curtains. Just today I finally bought an area rug for our kitchen. My husband is now currently working on painting the house room by room. Slowly but surely this house will finally be painted and furnished.
